Thank you for visiting the new and improved web-site for the
Redevelopment Authority of the County of Fayette. I hope
that this tool will help inform you about the many
responsibilities and accomplishments of our agency.
The Redevelopment Authority's basic strategies for
addressing housing, economic, and community development needs
in the County continue to focus on upgrading water and sanitary
sewer systems, improving streets and drainage, supporting
homeownership and housing rehabilitation activities, and
promoting the installation and improvement of recreational
areas. I am extremely proud of the Redevelopment
Authority's accomplishments, successfully addressing each of
these needs utilizing local, state, and federal resources.
Perhaps the most substantial investment to address local
community development needs has come from the County’s
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Housing
Rehabilitation Programs. Since 1985, the CDBG Program has
facilitated the installation or replacement of approximately
173 miles of waterlines, bringing clean, safe drinking water to
over 3,500 households. Through the County’s Homeowner
Rehabilitation Assistance and Weatherization Programs,
over 9,600 households have been assisted, improving living
conditions and preserving homeownership. Perhaps one of
the greatest accomplishments of the Redevelopment Authority has
been the ability to utilize CDBG funds to leverage additional
investment in our County. Since 1992, CDBG funds have
leveraged an additional $15.3 million in local, state, and
federal resources.
Of course all of these accomplishments would not have been
possible without a highly trained and dedicated staff and Board
and the help of many individuals and organizations.
Therefore, please take the time to visit the Partners and
Supporters section of our site.
In the coming years, the Redevelopment Authority looks
forward to maintaining our role as the County’s primary
agency responsible for community development and
single-family affordable housing. Working together, we
can continue the positive community and economic development
and housing preservation activities which help improve our
communities and make Fayette County a wonderful place to live.
